About the Role:

PHD Europe has an exciting opportunity for a talented biddable media expert, with experience running complex, multi-market agency operations as we roll out a new global digital operating model for one of our prestige PHD Worldwide clients’, Diageo.

The Biddable Manager (Europe) is responsible for unlocking the addressable media opportunity in the European region through setting the standards for and governing platform activation. Partnering with the Global and European biddable channel leads to develop best practice guidelines for performance in line with econometrics and attribution insights. From developing new guidelines with our primary DSP, search and social partners to refining and governing existing platform scorecards. Applying Global principles yet calibrating best practice accordingly for regional nuance (e.g to local inventory landscape, platform differences or data availability).

Sitting within the brand-new global transformation structure the Biddable Manager will work in partnership with the European digital standards team and local planning and activation teams to land global best practices consistently in every European market. From campaign setup settings that are known performance drivers, to rolling out priority global technology partners (e.g custom algos). This governance responsibility will include the regional ownership for the agency’s biddable platform governance automation tools.

Supporting the European Digital Platforms Director and Programmatic Director, the Biddable Manager will manage regional enablement Aligning the transformation and innovation agenda with commercial and efficiency expectations across five European market clusters; Southern Europe, Northern Europe, Great Britain, Ireland of Ireland and Eastern Europe. This includes, but is not limited to programmatic supply path optimisation, scaling bid optimisation solutions, omni media growth strategies and deploying custom solutions for CPM compression. Partnering with the data solutions community to land and scale new data products using Diageo’s 1P data in more markets with consistently.

Core to the role is the support for Diageo’s Trusted Marketplace (TMP) expansion strategy. Supporting the responsible growth of inventory against a consistent, brand safe and scalable set of criteria. This includes unlocking the audio, CTV and DOOH programmatic opportunity. Collaborating with Media and Data Operations to manage inventory growth targets, the efficiency unlock they deliver and assisting with operational tracking between teams.

The right candidate will;

  • Proven experience in campaign activation across one or more channels, including programmatic, social, and search media.

Whilst this role will not involve activating campaigns in platforms, having the experience in doing so at scale and ideally in multiple international markets is critical to succeed in building trust with the local agency activation teams, media operations and experienced clients.

  • Be highly organised with attention to detail.

Diageo have extremely high standards for alcohol advertising regulations, media supply chain transparency, brand suitability and best practice governance. The Biddable Manager will need to have an eye for detail in this regard, yet the ability to manage multiple workstreams across multiple markets simultaneously.

  • Be a natural collaborator

Work and collaborate with internal teams (digital, data, digital operations and activation, and local markets in particular) as well as clients. You will need to liaise with different teams in different parts of Europe to make this role work.

The right candidate should be:

  • Possesses strong analytical skills, capable of identifying obstacles and proactively devising effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of programmatic advertising technologies, including DSPs (Demand-Side Platforms), SSPs (Supply-Side Platforms), and the mechanisms of how biddable media is bought.
  • Has the ability to manage and maintain the European roadmap, prioritising key initiatives and improvements in alignment with Diageo’s business goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Digital Media Excellence

  • Support the media transformation agenda including omni channel media, connected data driven activation, progressive media & sustainable marketing
  • Collaborate with the Marketplace Director to identify and grow approved inventory.
  • Market engagement to communicate updates and manage new local requests.
  • Owner of global biddable media guidelines
  • Develop new global best practice based on proven drivers of performance
  • Work in partnership with OMG and Diageo programmatic leadership to further advance Diageo’s approach to drive efficiency and effectiveness across media, tech and data. For example, The Trade Desk’s Predictive Clearing product, our partnership with SciBids and others.

Digital Platform Governance

  • Leading the European governance program for social and search
  • Owning the global roll out of Omni governance technologies to automate and scale the application of best practice in biddable platforms
  • Develop, coordinate and collaborate with regional digital platform teams on the global digital platform governance program
  • Operational media lead for the compliance the Diageo Marketing Code globally
