Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The High Voltage Battery Pack Team is responsible for the design of high voltage battery pack design. The thermal engineer is responsible for the thermal system including battery cell characteristics, electrical component heat generation calculation, and battery cell cooling systems.
- Identify requirements of battery cooling system based on battery cell characteristics and pack requirements
- Perform pack thermal simulation using cell characteristics.
- Reviewing cooling system with the thermal system suppliers to optimize the battery performance
- Work with BMS team to develop thermal system logic
- Must have excellent knowledge in FEA/CFD to create heat transfer analysis through excellent thermal system knowledge
- Must have excellent knowledge in battery cell characteristics to review accurate thermal simulation model of the battery pack
- Work with external supplier to ensure the component meets all requirements
- Identify thermal system DFMEA as well as thermal system component DFMEA.
- Write/review DVP&R and work with validation engineers to validate the cooling system requirements
- Analyze all available data, draw conclusions, and manage design revisions
- Ensure all standards and requirements are met
- Ensure meeting SOP timing plan
- Review and approve component PPAP submission
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience in thermal system and simulation
- Must have proven hands-on experience in thermal analysis and manufacturing
- Must have experience in high volume manufacturing, working with suppliers, and manufacturing team.
- Design release experience in automotive industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years experience in thermal system and simulation
- Excellent understanding in DFMEA and PFMEA
- A self-starting engineer

For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $70,000 and $130,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
