About the role

As Group Product Lead for Grocery Catalogue and Inventory you will have product ownership of the taxonomy, catalogue and metadata structures that power our consumer and partner experiences and the data our commercial and operational partners use to analyse their performance. You’ll be a critical leader in defining how we evaluate the success of our Grocery business, and the underlying platform that enables us to build it.

It’s a pivotal moment for the online grocery space: the opportunity is massive and Deliveroo is making a major, long-term investment in developing a world-leading proposition. We are a nascent, nimble group that has the flexibility to move fast and big ambitions to step change the online-grocery industry. In this position you’ll be a key member of the group’s leadership, and will play an integral role in steering, inspiring and building your team and the wider org. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Define the long-run product strategy for the catalogue, metadata and menus stack that power our Grocery business
  • Have accountability for executing on your roadmap to deliver measured value to the business; confidently and independently orchestrating a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists & designers
  • Build a world-class data structures and set of production systems and APIs used to power everything from the item data shown on product pages, through our search relevance models, to our personalised upsell recommendations
  • Build and take to market a set of capabilities and tools to enable commercial teams to effectively manage to order volume and profitability targets -- with a specific focus on helping them understand their selection and range, coverage in specific zones and more
  • Independently manage internal stakeholder communication across all levels of the business to drive a consensus on approach across the business.

 Requirements:

  • Significant experience of solving important business problems with data and data structures, and building those approaches from the ground up
  • A track-record for defining the strategy to tackle ambiguous problem spaces and for building teams from the ground-up to execute on your plans
  • Experience working in a global, consumer business with geographically distributed teams
  • Experience with line managing and developing other tech individual contributors through coaching and mentoring
  • Highly analytical and able to collaborate effectively with Data Scientists to make data-led decisions and contribute to financial planning.
  • Detail-oriented and can thrive in a scrappy environment where impact and velocity of execution are paramount.
