The Financial Controller sits within Financial Reporting and reports to the Finance Director. This is an important role in the accounting and financial reporting team, being the lynchpin between the team reporting managers and the wider our goals.

The main tasks undertaken will include:

  • Enhance and prepare monthly consolidated reporting pack, to include consolidated P&L, Balance sheet and Cash flow; based on individual country returns.
  • Responsible for the month-end close ensuring that the reporting team can meet the needs of the investor relations team, and shorten the month-end timetable
  • Help design and implement global financial reporting controls, communicate with internal audit on a testing plan and monitor the effectiveness of the controls.
  • Lead the Financial System (NetSuite) chart of accounts – designing a change process, ensuring communication with all relevant departments, and considering ways to improve insight from it.
  • Lead the relationship with the financial systems team, ensuring the ERP system is being used, identifying improvements, and working on the transformation programme to allow the financial reporting team to have a more streamlined and shortened month end process.
  • Ensure that the accounting policy manual is up-to-date and on changes to / new accounting policies, including analysis of the impact of new accounting standards or preferred practices by the business.
  • Preparation/review of the financial statements and managing external reporting commitments.
  • Lead the audit process for the group, to meet the deadlines of the group and local statutory reporting and filing goals, ensuring local GAAP accounts are prepared and filed.
  • Corporate reporting projects eg. share options and finance transformation projects.
  • Ad hoc projects, including ongoing projects to improve processes and ways of working across the finance team, M&A and improvements.

Requirements

  • You will need to be (ACA, ACCA OR CA) qualified with experience running a slick month-end process.
  • Good technical accounting experience with financial systems
  • Relevant industry or startup experience.
