Why Deliveroo? 

When you first think about Deliveroo, you probably think of getting great food to your house in less than half an hour.  Awesome right? But behind the scenes is the real story. This story is one of high growth, huge challenges and an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It began with our founder Will, arriving in London over 5 years ago and finding it almost impossible to order great food, despite the wealth of incredible restaurants in the city.  Fast forward 5 years and we operate in 13 countries with over 50,000 riders who deliver orders from 50,000 restaurants in over 200 cities worldwide.

We work with riders, restaurants and consumers. We operate one of the most complex three sided marketplaces in the world and we do this in real time. Millions of customers and thousands of restaurants and riders rely on us to match them within milliseconds. The algorithms behind that marketplace are the secret sauce that allows us to deliver our orders in under 30 minutes.

And we’re just getting started

The scale of the opportunity ahead of us is immense. The global food market is valued at £7.7 trillion but only 1% of it is currently online. Contrast that with the digital disruption of countless other industries - from banking and travel to retail and communications - it’s clear that our journey in the food sector has only just begun.

Yet most of the extraordinary value this company will generate lies ahead of us. 

The Role

As a Rider Engagement Manager you'll be responsible for running engagement campaigns with many of the 25,000 riders in cities across the UK - specifically in the South and South West.

Reporting into the Local Engagement Lead, you'll spend your time planning and running local events with riders across your region - using rider sentiment and operational data, and speaking with other Operations Teams at HQ to understand where it's most important that we spend our time. 

You'll manage a team of Engagement Associates to run events, and you'll collect feedback, insight and competitor information to bring back to HQ. You'll understand what's important to know, and how to address the operational challenges in your market through engaging with riders.

Specific priorities within the role

  • Understand and monitor the topics on the minds of Deliveroo riders in your region - be data-driven and  understand rider sentiment in each city, and help prioritise where to spend time

  • Collect insights and feedback from riders and share with key stakeholders at Deliveroo

  • Work with the Content and Engagement Team centrally to plan and execute large-scale events and major launches

  • Understand operational metrics, find problems and be curious and creative in trying to solve them

  • Understand key initiatives in operations and plan and run smaller local events to facilitate (whether that's giving out new kit or working with our restaurant partners)

  • Manage a team of Engagement Associates


  • Strong communication skills - able to know what to say in any situation, and to quickly build trust and respect and form relationships with people from all backgrounds

  • Strong project manager and experience planning and running large events with lots of moving parts - and to be very hands-on

  • Juggle priorities in multiple cities, prioritise and remain focussed

  • Logical and data-driven - able to analyse data and diagnose a problem, then understand the levers we have as an Operations Team to resolve it

  • Flexibility in travelling across UKI (mileage and expenses covered)

  • Full driving license (own vehicle desirable but not essential)
