Footwear Designer

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Research seasonal trends, colours, materials, trims and hardware 
  • Create unique seasonal concepts for each brand based on global trend forecasts
  • Design sketches based on seasonal concepts and render the same with appropriate colour, prints, materials and trims
  • Develop components such as artwork/soles/trims/branding as well as packaging wherever necessary
  • Responsible for creating detailed techpacks that illustrate design and construction details with high accuracy including last reference, material reference, pantone numbers
  • Collaborate with Buying and Sourcing teams for effective design development
  • Promptly incorporate sales data and trends provided on regular basis to create capsule collections and update best-selling styles with fresh trendy elements
  • Review samples post development, amend patterns where necessary, improve quality of products and confirm final designs/materials/colours 
  • Conduct fitting sessions in collaboration with Tech team 
  • Work closely with vendors on unit/material/component sourcing, sampling and development follow-ups
  • Execute timely on-season calendar deadlines
  • Contributing well researched ideas to support marketing for brands including social media posts
  • Work closely with catalogue team to improve brand imagery, refresh directions regularly, write product descriptions or content for specific ranges

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1-3 years’ experience and Grad NIFT/FDDI
  • Demonstrates high level aesthetics and creative ability with a strong understanding of youth culture
  • Well-rounded experience in women’s footwear design
  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Technical knowledge of footwear is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and calendars
  • Ability to handle work independently with minimal supervision
  • Costing/buying selection experience is preferred
