Via provides turn key transit operations powered by our advanced software - we call it Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS). As an Associate Principal focused on Risk Mitigation you will help steer our strategy for building the safest possible services for our riders, drivers and partners, and directly oversee the execution of this strategy. This role sits at the intersection of multiple teams and requires a combination of intelligence, attention to detail, incredible organization, and exceptional cross team communication skills. We are looking for an individual who can find ways to improve the outcomes of existing processes and operationally realize that vision.

Note: This role would manage one or more of Via’s TaaS partner cities in North America. The role would be based in New York City but we are open to other locations.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate at the nexus of three teams (operations, legal/compliance, and support), managing projects and resources from all three teams to help improve processes and workflows that intersect them
  • Oversee our largest safety initiatives and manage the launch of new initiatives 
  • Own core risk mitigation KPIs and find innovative ways to keep improving them 
  • Utilize data to create business insights which you translate into new processes, policies, and outcomes; implement and manage associated reporting 
  • Manage execution of all regulatory related safety and compliance topics including drug and alcohol testing, accident investigation, and audits (regulators include the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) as well as state and local authorities) 
  • Be the subject matter expert on translating operating metrics to on the ground realities across multiple verticals 
  • Be a leader and work with different team members: foster a collaborative, cohesive, and energetic presence
  • Making sure all of our practices are compliant with the necessary regulating bodies
