Security Engineer

The security engineer is part of the security engineering team within the IT Security Department and will have a strong focus on infrastructure security. You will interact with departments across Leaseweb within different countries. This role is focused on projects and day-to-day operations. The security engineer will directly report to the Global IT Security Director and is based in our HQ in Amsterdam.

What is the role about?

  • Maintain, configure, and analyze network and host-based security platforms like vulnerability scanning systems and tools, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, SIEM platforms, Anti-virus software, etc,
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate security-related information systems’ anomalies based on security platform reporting, network traffic, log files, host-based and automated security alerts,
  • Provide Incident Response support as needed in response to information security related events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the development of security tool requirements, trials and evaluations, as well as security operations procedures, processes and designs,
  • Help the security department in processing incoming questions from the organization,
  • Proactively inform the security department on current and possible future threats to the Leaseweb environment,
  • Be a security ambassador within Leaseweb, leading by example,
  • Maintain and update relevant system and process documentation and develop ad-hoc reports as needed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Education at Bachelor (HBO) level or higher or equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years of experience with security systems such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, Log correlation tools, SIEM, DLP, NAC and application firewall solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network design and security principles.
  • CISSP, CCNA, or SSCP Certification is desirable.
  • You feel comfortable communicating across all levels of an organization, all the way up to senior management team and different cultures
  • You have knowledge about complex IT and development environments
  • You have excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Prior experience in a dynamic project-based environment with strong customer focus
