System Engineer – Developer Platform

Leaseweb is currently looking for a System Engineer to join our Developer Platform team. The Developer Platform team supports our development teams by providing standards for API development, support of internally and externally used tools, and maintains several applications used internally and externally by our customers.

Product Engineering at Leaseweb 

Our team of approximately 90 engineers is working in small scrum teams. Each team has end-to-end responsibility for a specific product or part of our architecture. We work on a remote-first basis, coming together in person at our Amsterdam headquarters twice a year.

What is the role about?

In your role as a System Engineer in the Developer Platform team you are responsible for applying your specialism to support the team with operations and R&D. You work with the team to design, implement and support new infrastructure needed to support our APIs and our development teams. The infrastructure includes the API Gateways, Kafka and Elasticsearch clusters, authentication platform and more.

  • Ensure the availability of our infrastructure
  • Identify and propose new technologies we can use to improve our services
  • Research, develop, implement and support new infrastructure
  • Regular on-call duty 

Who are you?

You enjoy building new solutions and using the latest technology. You believe that continuous improvement also applies to yourself and have the desire to grow. You are not afraid to experiment but at the same time keep in mind stability and reliability.  

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Proven background in setting up infrastructure architectures
  • Demonstrable Linux knowledge
  • Experience with Elastic stack, Chef and Nginx
  • Shell, Python or Ruby Scripting skills
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes is beneficial
  • Strength in problem analysis and conceptual thinking
  • Driven to improve quality and prevent incidents
  • Fluent English communication skills are essential
  • Bachelor or Master in Software Engineering or Computer Science
