Your Impact
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Strategic Alliances to join our Strategy & Corporate Development team. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing, managing, and expanding strategic partnerships that drive growth, innovation, and value creation for Axon. The Director, Strategic Alliances will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product development, and executive leadership, to research, identify, develop and execute partnership opportunities that align with Axon's strategic and product roadmaps.
The Director will play a critical role in shaping the future of Axon’s partnership ecosystem. This includes identifying key partners, negotiating agreements, and ensuring successful collaboration.As part of small but high-impact team, this person will collaborate with product and market pillar leaders to create and implement strategies that foster innovation and drive business growth. This role is essential for expanding Axon’s customer impact and to unlock our mission to Protect Life.
What You’ll Do

Reports to: Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development
Partnership Development and Management
- Research, identify, evaluate, develop and formalize strategic partnerships with key industry players, technology providers, and other relevant organizations to enhance Axon's product offerings and the value delivered to customers and users.
- Lead the negotiation of partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and conditions that align with Axon's business objectives.
- Manage ongoing relationships with partners, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and execution of joint initiatives and roadmaps.
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic alliances plan that supports Axon's long-term growth and innovation goals.
- Work with other members of Axon’s Strategy & Corporate Development team as well as a product and market pillar leaders to complete market analysis and competitive intelligence to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential partners.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate partnership strategies into overall business and product development plans.
- Tackle hard, ambiguous questions with rigor and independence, owning projects from problem definition to final recommendation and execution.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a growing team of business development and alliance professionals
- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, encouraging cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Serve as a liaison between Axon and its partners, representing the company's interests and values in all interactions.
- Contribute to shaping Axon’s long-term partnership ecosystem and strategic alliances strategy and to build business development into a true center of excellence.
- Take on high degree of ownership, directly framing and influencing Axon’s most strategic decisions with a “win right” attitude.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and impact of strategic partnerships.
- Provide regular reports and updates to product and market pillar leaders on partnership activities, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Continuously assess and refine partnership strategies based on performance data and feedback from stakeholders.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, product management, or related roles within the technology or public safety industries.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and managing strategic alliances that drive business growth and innovation.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in reviewing and marking up legal agreements as well as with effectively interfacing with both in-house and external legal counsel.
- Experience in synthesizing, communicating and presenting complex analysis and ideas as well as partnership terms with ease both verbally and in writing to senior leaders.
- Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- High energy with low ego and a “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to manage, prioritize and advance numerous mission critical projects simultaneously combined with exceptional organizational skills
- Knowledge of the public safety industry or connected technologies is highly desirable.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 160,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 240,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
