Quality Assurance Engineer

Kaleris’ is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who can contribute to our journey of building the new generation of products, who is customer obsessed, has bias for action and someone who has a passion for making the complex simple, creating world class products that non-coders can implement and most importantly use, and is responsible for delivering high-margin, commercially successful products that drive customer value in our industry.

Our engineering team practices agile software development.  Our technologies include Javascript, React.js, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, Linux, PostgreSQL, GPS and location awareness, Digital Mapping, Apple Mac development workstations, cloud computing, Redis/Resque, JSON and other queueing systems to integrate our applications with customer systems.

Day-to-day responsibilities

The QA Engineer is part of the quality assurance team responsible for ensuring the products and solutions Kaleris is providing to our customers are delivered in a quality manner.

The QA engineer ensures the right test plans and test cases are defined and are executed to ensure our software meets or exceeds the requirements of our customers.

Overall responsibilities

  • Drive software quality assurance lifecycle as part of Agile process and deliver high quality releases on time
  • Establish test strategies, design test plans and test cases
  • Create and verify test scripts for test cases for user interface (U/I) and non-U/I applications as well as application programming interfaces (API’s)
  • Execute test cases, debug and resolve issues, track and prioritize defects
  • Work closely with the development team and product owners to clarify requirements, recommend improvements in software to enhance user experience
  • Effectively manage dynamically changing schedules to ensure on-time delivery and good test coverage with little supervision
  • Provide first level technical support to customer support team and research customer issues
  • Assist deployment team in software configuration for new customers

Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, business or a related technical or business field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of total experience in software QA
  • Understanding of QA methodology and process
  • Experience in developing automation frameworks for U/I applications or API test harness
  • Experience writing procedural programs
  • Good understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript and Foundation
  • Experience in bug tracking, reporting and verification tools and processes
  • Hands-on experience working with Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) platforms
  • Proficient with SQL and distributed version control systems (GIT)
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, self-motivated, and self-directed
  • Proficient in English Language

Desired Qualifications

  • Software development experience a plus
  • Cucumber automation experience a plus
  • Experience testing Ruby on Rails, C/C++ and Python based applications
  • Performance and scalability testing experience
  • Software build and release systems
  • Experience using Test Case Management systems like TestRails

Benefits and Compensation

The following is a summary of the benefits currently offered by Kaleris to its local employees in Mexico.  These benefits are periodically reviewed and are subject to change at any time by the company on its sole discretion. 

  • Paid Holidays- 14 days of declared paid holidays in a year. 
  • Annual Vacation - 15 days of annual vacation, eligible after completion of one year with the Company.   
  • Vacation Bonus - All Employees after completing one year of employment with the Company, will receive the respective vacation premium, equivalent to 25% of the amount paid for vacation. 
  • Christmas Bonus - All employees are entitled to receive an amount equal to 15 days of salary in the month of December, paid towards Christmas Bonus 
  • Maternity Leave - Eligible employees are entitled for maternoty leave of 12 weeks (6 weeks before & 6 weeks after child birth) paid at 100% by IMSS. Paid Parental leaves of 4 weeks for a secondary caregiver are available for all full time employees as per the Company policy.   
  • Health Insurance - All eligible employee and their direct family (spouse and children - until they complete 21 years old or they finish superior education) can participate in the health insurance program. The sum insured is MXN 6,306,000 with a copy of 10% 
  • Life/AD&D, Voluntary Life - The company provides a term life and accidental death and dismemberment of 24 times monthly base salary. 
  • Volunteering Time Off - Volunteering Time Off is one paid day off for employees to contribute their time to recognized charitable institutions, causes, or non-profit organizations. Any unused VTO will not be carried forward or paid out. 
  • Paid Parental Leave - Eligible employees can avail paid time off for birth, care, and bonding time with their newborn or adopted child. The primary care giver can avail 12 weeks of paid parental leave while the secondary care giver can avail 2 weeks of paid leaves. In countries where the current Parental leave benefits are better compared to the Paid Parental leaves, the local policy will take precedence. 
  • Flexible Work Policy - The company offers a hybrid working structure and flexible working hours to all employees. 
  • Superannuation - Employer will make statutory contributions in accordance with legal requirements. 
  • Business Travel Insurance - When traveling 100 miles (161 kilometers) or more on company business, employees are provided 24 hour worldwide all-risk accident protection at no cost to the employee.
