About the Role

As a Cloud and Engineering Practice Lead, you will be responsible for leading and growing our cloud and engineering practice, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients. You will play a critical role in driving innovation, establishing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the practice. You will engage internally and externally to create informed thought leadership to differentiate BJSS in the marketplace and will play an integral role in supporting the business development process as a subject matter expert.

We’re looking for a talented Cloud Engineering Leader who wants to:

Practice Leadership

  • Define and implement the strategic direction of the cloud engineering practice, aligning with business objectives and market trends.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, architects, engineers and delivery specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure project success and professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes knowledge sharing, creativity, and excellence in delivery.

Solution Architecture

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
  • Develop architecture blueprints, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps for cloud projects, considering factors such as security, performance, and compliance.

Technical Expertise

  • Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies, tools, and best practices, and share knowledge with the team to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance, assisting with complex technical challenges and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Client Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building strong relationships and collaborating closely to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Lead pre-sales activities, including solutioning, proposal development, and client presentations, to drive business growth and win new opportunities.

Team Development

  • Identify skills gaps within the team and develop training plans to enhance technical capabilities and professional development.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and recognize achievements to motivate and retain top talent.

This role will be mainly based in Columbus, Ohio but may involve up to 25% travel. 

About You

You’ll bring extensive cloud architecture and software engineering experience gained through a combination of industry and consulting roles. You will be comfortable developing and strengthening peer-to-peer level relationships at all levels with our clients.

Ideally, you will have as much of the following experience as possible:

  • Experience in consulting leadership positions leading and solutioning, selling and supporting delivery teams efforts for cloud and engineering solutions.
  • Extensive experience in cloud engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex cloud solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with leading cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Architect preferred.
