About the Team and Role

The Corporate and Business Development team identifies and evaluates strategic opportunities and executes partnerships and corporate transactions designed to drive significant impact across multiple facets of our business. This team works closely with senior leadership to (i) develop and project-manage complex strategies and proposals to advance core aspects of WeWork's long term vision and strategy; (ii) structure, evaluate and negotiate business and corporate transactions; and (iii) build operational infrastructure to ensure long term success of initiatives. This is a small group composed of individuals who have previously worked at top-tier consultancies, investment banks, law firms, etc. As a member of this team, you will be expected to work closely with senior executives across the company, as well as multiple partners from different functional areas. The right candidate will have a strong sense of ownership and excellent problem-solving, people and communication skills (both oral and visual).

Key Job Responsibilities

● Work with Director to develop strategies, evaluate various business opportunities, and execute transactions to bring new value to WeWork and its members
● Conduct market/competitor mapping and analysis to identify potential partners

● Build and execute cross-functional action plans that are necessary to successfully deliver on the strategy
● Communicate strategy, plans, and recommendations to senior executives and influence the company to act appropriately to capture the value in such findings
● Represent WeWork in external meetings with senior leadership with potential partners and help marshal internal stakeholders
● Plan and develop of new products and strategic initiatives, working closely with other groups such as Strategic Planning, Digital, Product, and Sales, to ensure timely execution of short term and long term goals
● Understand and stay current on tech industry trends, competitive landscape and internal product development efforts
● Lead efforts to analyze and build financial/economic models to develop a viable strategy


● Bachelor's degree in business related field. MBA or advanced designation preferred

● 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic consulting, investment banking, economics, finance, business planning and/or equivalent experience

● Demonstrated hypothesis-driven problem-solving orientation with exceptional ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses

● Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to formulate and deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner

● Exceptionally strong personal initiative and sense of ownership, good business instincts, and comfort with ambiguity

● A track record of successfully negotiating across a broad range of potentially conflicted attributes including business, product, technology, branding, channels, and third-party contributions to arrive at the optimum strategy.

● Strong financial/business modeling and analysis skills

● Track record for growing and mentoring junior talent, as well as leading team-based engagements

● Fluent in Japanese and proficient in spoken and written English
