THE ROLE
We are in the process of revolutionizing a 278-year-old business. We’re looking for highly talented fullstack software engineers who would help reshape the future of Sotheby’s through exceptional engineering practices, software development, and design.

You’re comfortable diving into complex technical and architectural problems and providing mentorship for your peers and teammates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, optimize, and maintain user-facing web features that help art and design lovers sell objects online
- Design elegant abstractions, shareable libraries, and robust APIs
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders across the company
- Communicate persuasively with peers to inspire cooperation
- Mentor, pair, and delegate work to encourage the growth of others
- Make well-reasoned decisions that inspire and energize others
- Provide technical leadership so that others can contribute confidently
- Help recruit, interview, and generally make Sotheby’s a great home for developers
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- 4+ years of industry engineering experience in a product-driven environment focusing on full-stack application development, technologies, and platforms
- Excellent communication skills both internally and externally
- Works collaboratively across functions and teams
- Must have good knowledge and experience with Golang, Javascript, or comparable languages and modern application development frameworks like React
- Must have good knowledge of RDBMS such as Postgres or MySQL
- Working knowledge of GraphQL and GRPC
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
- Working knowledge of messaging queue systems
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $138,000-$180,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
