The  Central Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the communication, scheduling, and direct supervision of the Central Receiving area and staff; ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with the department SLA, the dock is managed and maintained, and property movement is safe and handled with care. They manage the scheduling and function of the inbound dock to ensure the efficient and precise flow of property into the building. This person must work efficiently and effectively with both third parties and various internal departments at Sotheby's.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Project Leads to ensure Property Handlers’ compliance to all operational policies related to the sales process as it relates to the inbound dock 
  • Maintain the integrity, organization, and safety of the property receiving area and the Inbound dock 
  • Manage and enforce the organization and maintenance of Operational procedures on the Inbound dock 
  • Work with Logistics Manager and Project Leads to plan and schedule overtime hours for Property Handler and Registrar needs 
  • Maintain the integrity of Operational procedures and comply with Risk Management and Security Department requirements 
  • Execute scheduling of inbound deliveries, warehouse transfers, and effectively manage unscheduled deliveries and collections 
  • Verify and ensure accuracy of paperwork, and communicate with appropriate colleagues for any discrepancies 
  • Properly complete receiving documentation and maintain such documents for audit purposes 
  • Conduct physical inventories and work with the Inventory Manager to perform regular stock checks 
  • Ensure daily list of property that needs to be transferred to the dock for dispatch is pulled in a timely fashion and all property is verified for the next pick up 
  • Ensure daily list of property scheduled to arrive is verified and communicate with appropriate colleagues for any discrepancies 
  • Ensure the maintenance of equipment, packing supplies, and schedule regular cleaning of the dock 
  • Work with Project Leads to coordinate safe and efficient property movement throughout the building 
  • Maintain and audit schedules, payroll, and expenses for Property Handlers assigned to Central Receiving 

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 1-3 years Supervision/management experience required 
  • 2-4 years Registrar/collections management experience a must 
  • General overall knowledge of the fine and decorative arts and luxury retail 
  • Excellent attention to detail  
  • A team player who works with other colleagues to complete tasks and activities 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of people 
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with speed and efficiency 
  • Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment 
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekend hours when necessary 

The target base salary for this position is $60,000 plus OT. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
