We are looking for a Marketing Research Manager to support Zip through the next growth phase. We are looking for an experienced researcher who will work exceptionally well in a customer-led fast-growth tech company, based in Sydney, Australia.

The Marketing Research Manager will work closely with our external agency partners and internal stakeholders to help craft our customer and marketing programs to be the very best they can be. Bringing 5-7 years of industry experience and best practice to the forefront of customer intelligence, you will be responsible for the on-time delivery of market intelligence, analysis and research reports.

Your ability to drive innovation forward at a fast pace, respond quickly to new learnings and data, multi-task projects and then quickly adapt is essential for success in this role. This role will suit an experienced market research professional or someone from a Marketing or Product background that wants to further their career by applying both quant and qual methods in a fast-paced tech environment.

As Marketing Research Manager at Zip, you will be responsible for answering business questions across our Marketing, Product & Commercial Teams by using data and insights to drive recommendations. You will be equally focused on deeply understanding the millions of existing customers as well as the millions of people yet to try Zip by creating the processes and tools for unearthing the voice of customers and integrating this into Zip’s marketing strategy and planning rhythms.

This role requires good knowledge of running primary research methods (such as surveys, consumer research studies, interviews, market research and focus groups), as well as secondary methods such as macro trend analysis, macroeconomic data and desktop research. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to work with stakeholders across the entire Zip ANZ business.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • Build and deliver quantitative and qualitative market research insights for use across the business
  • Project manage multiple projects including Brand Health tracker, Product research, Voice of Customer research, among others
  • Drive NPS studies at various touchpoints and deep dive projects in line with business needs and priorities
  • Develop a clear, focused questionnaire or discussion guide aligned with key project objectives, with limited assistance
  • Conduct ad hoc quantitative analysis as required, using Excel or Q
  • Prepare stakeholder presentations and actionable insights, ensuring these are tailored to stakeholder requirements. Blending internal analytics as appropriate to create holistic audience insights
  • Clearly and confidently communicate and share research findings to the business, within required timeframes
  • Confidently present at high level meetings
  • Ensure fieldwork is managed accurately, within timelines and budgets, and project manage requirements that are understood by all parties involved
  • Building relationships, collaborating & influencing
  • Cultivate strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders such as research and behavioural economics agencies
  • Connect with all stakeholders, to shape a collective point of view and feed into research plans
  • Negotiates with a genuine give-and-take approach, where both acts as true peers and decisions are shared
  • Key point of contact for research agencies–obtain costs and service agreements
  • Communicate the value of research, what it informed and how it was used across the business

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 5-7 year’s professional experience in marketing and customer insights, previously held Research & Insights Manager roles
  • Bachelor's degree in research field preferred – ideally in Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Psychology, Communications (not essential)
  • Experience working in fast-paced tech is advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill the output of complex data sets to business applications
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and balance multiple project priorities
  • Experience with designing, leading and implementing Market Research projects
  • Experience with primary and secondary research methods
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with the confidence to interact and lead others in a variety of settings
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Open for input and feedback, while being able to influence people being challenged by change
  • Sound project management skills are important, along with the ability to manage timelines, budgets and project documentation
  • Strong collaborator who wil help bring together data and insights from UX Research, Product, Marketing, Data & Analytics teams and external sources
  • Strong numeracy skills, comfortable dealing with large data sets to synthesize, generate insights, establish priorities, and communication recommendations and actions
  • Hands on tools experience on Q, Microsoft suite and Google docs
  • A strong desire to execute, drive impact, and demonstrate urgency
  • Good level of emotional intelligence and empathy
