As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Zip, you will be essential in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems. You will collaborate closely with our Engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain robust operational processes and tools across our Technology function. Your role will involve leading initiatives to automate manual tasks, optimise system performance, and respond effectively to incidents.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with engineering teams to identify root causes, prevent recurrence and conduct thorough post-mortems.
  • Continuously analyse system performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages and automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Collaborate with delivery engineering teams to forecast capacity requirements and ensure adequate resources are available to meet demand and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure scalability and efficiency of cloud infrastructure and systems to handle traffic and data growth.

  • Extensive experience working with containerisation and orchestration with Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in implementing and using monitoring and observability tools like Dynatrace! 
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking principles, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and support.
  • Proven experience leading incident response efforts, including managing critical incidents and coordinating with multiple teams.
  • Experience managing change control processes in complex IT environments, with a focus on minimising risk and impact.
