THE ROLE

The Head of Engineering is leading an engineering area in the Growth swarm. A successful Head of Engineering brings a unique blend of leadership, engineering management, and engineering skills that they apply across multiple cross-functional product teams, steering them towards personal and technical growth, and a common product area vision.

THE TEAM

The Growth Swarm acquires & activates, engages & retains users, and monetizes them properly. Product teams within the Growth swarm work closely with CRM and Revenue teams to run experiments across the entire AARRR user journey (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue). We constantly improve and optimize our products, such as Signup, Shop Subscriptions, Pricing Models, Loyalty Program, In-App Support Chat, Refer a Friend, Vouchers & Coupons, and others.

THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT AT TIER

  • You inspire and steer your teams towards an efficient execution of company, swarm, and team-level strategies, focusing on tech.
  • You manage and report delivery progress of your teams together with the Head of Product.
  • You build, hire, and organize your engineering teams.
  • You lead and drive the technical and personal growth of your engineering teams.
  • You break down swarm-level business and tech initiatives into technical goals.
  • You advise product managers and stakeholders on technical feasibility.
  • You coordinate and drive technical decisions among your teams and other departments, ensuring they meet the overall business requirements and standards.
  • You are responsible for the overall system development life-cycle within your teams.
  • You set and monitor objectives within your engineering teams.
  • You drive technical excellence within your engineering teams.
  • You manage expenses related to your teams.

YOU’LL FIT GREAT WITH THESE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical leadership or engineering management.
  • Experience in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience in creating and managing career development plans for engineers with diverse skillsets.
  • Deep understanding of modern mobile and / or backend development, and data on scale.
  • Holistic understanding of systems that serve millions of customers.
  • Demonstrated ability of building complex user experiences, from architectural design and planning to management and delivery.
  • Ability to stay on top of industry best practices and the cutting/bleeding edge, and to introduce relevant technologies.
  • Aspirations to build excellent experiences for our customers.
  • Being comfortable in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with multiple teams and work streams at the same time, including engineers, designers, managers, and various stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate high-level strategy and technical details effectively.
