Title:  Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Job Summary:

The primary focus of this position is managing day-to-day EHS operations. This position will be the main POC for ergonomics, fire-life safety and incident management. The position will work closely with EHS Program managers to implement EHS programs, policies and procedures.

Essential job duties and Responsibilities

Ergonomics Program Coordination: Schedule ergonomic assessments and assist employees with purchasing recommend ergonomic equipment. Evaluate the program on continuous basis and make recommendations to make the program more efficient. Facilitate quarterly ergonomics trainings.

Environmental Health and Safety Auditing: Schedule quarterly office and lab inspections for the DSA main campus and Regional offices. Follow-up on corrective actions and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Maintain audit records.

COVID-19: Assist with answering COVID-19 related inquires sent to the EHS mailbox. Manage the COVID-19 supplies. Coordinate COVID-19 testing, as needed.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate hazardous work place conditions by conducting job hazard analysis. Prioritize major risks and assist with corrective actions to mitigate the hazardous work condition. Assist with the investigation of all injuries and near miss incidents.

Chemical Inventory and SDS Management: Conduct annual chemical inventories for all worksites. Maintain SDS database and hazard communication poster for all labs.

Fire-Life Safety: Manage fire-life safety inspections for all offices. Maintain all applicable records for review by regulatory agencies. Conduct select fire-life safety audits for the Bay Area offices.

Industrial Hygiene: Assist with managing industrial hygiene exposure assessments to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements.

Environmental Health and Safety Incident Reporting: Conduct incident investigations and complete all incident reporting. Ensure all documentation and associated corrective actions are completed. 

Education:

BS Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or related field

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Entry level or experienced EHS Specialist / Coordinator
  • Interest in developing and implementing EHS programs
  • Quickly acquire knowledge and understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies
  • Task oriented, self-motivated and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Proficient with computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
