What You’ll Do

The Security Team protects the company’s intellectual property, assets and personnel. As a part of the Workplace Solutions Group, Security will support the innovation, collaboration and productivity of Samsung’s Clients and Customers through exceptional customer service. The Head of Security will lead the physical security team, operations, and project management across all Americas SSI locations in partnership with the entire Support Organization. This includes growing a high-performance security services team within the Samsung environment and establishing strong programs, processes, and services. Leading this proactive effort will require a long term, strategic plan to identify and address/mitigate risks to the company. 

 Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

Principle Functions:

Team Management

  • Demonstrate overall internal team management through strong leadership.
  • Effectively manage vendors and security services including the guard service.
  • Oversee and responsible for vendor management, vendor relationship, contracts, invoice management, planning, and execution.
  • Provide effective training and retain talent by developing and implementing programs.
  • Effectively communicate strategic physical security policies, procedures, and goals to both internal and external executive level stakeholders and build relationships.
  • Accountable for comprehensive physical security strategy including all resources and projects. 

Operations Management

  • Demonstrate high standards of customer service.
  • Develop strategic roadmap and implement standard security operations, compliance criteria and protocols to protect personnel and physical assets.
  • Lead equipment and technology management.
  • Build a coalition of internal partners to create and test new security strategies that enable the business, meet current and anticipated compliance requirements, and maintain efficiency through alignment with existing programs.
  • Partner with local, state, federal, and international agencies to establish and maintain relationships and communications about physical security and incident management.
  • Partner with internal teams such as EHS, Info Sec, Compliance to build procedures, e.g. emergency response.
  • Update security policies to align with company values, reduce risk, adapt to industry best practices, and comply with customer requirements/government regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and manage regional offices located throughout the U.S.
  • Effectively manage overall budget for Security.
  • Identify and implement new technologies to improve security staffing and cost efficiencies across all sites.

Project Management

  • Direct and lead procedures for security incidents and investigations.
  • Responsible for administering the implementation of all safety and security programs and initiatives to ensure the safety of employees and visitors including company event support.
  • Develop and deliver outstanding guest service programs including safe work practice promotion, OSHA compliance, safety incentive programs, system use, badging, etc. adhering to federal, state, and local standards.
  • Apply project management principles with goals in building capital and operational plans, including budget management.
  • Utilize systems and technology to gather data/metrics and effectively communicate information.
  • Work cross-functionally with other support teams in selecting service or product providers such as the bidding process with Procurement.
  • Direct response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats to life and/or property.
  • Manage projects and programs as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Ten to fifteen years of relevant corporate security experience with at least five years of management experience, with a proven leadership track record.
  • Extensive knowledge in the security operations management field and the advanced ability to design, develop, manage, and evaluate programs with a long-term strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communications, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, esp. in emergency response situations.
  • Familiarity with facilities and office services functions in a workplace department preferred.
  • Ability to develop and document programs and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Fifteen plus years’ experience in a corporate security leadership role at high-tech, fast-paced companies.
  • Excellent project management skills with clear understanding of project management principles.
  • ASIS affiliation, certifications.
  • Experience in technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of security systems, i.e. access control systems, video surveillance systems and alarms.
  • Experienced communicator with excellent influencing skills and a proven track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and management skills .
  • Knowledge and experience in managing, investigations, threats and WPV programs.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Emergency Response and First Aid trained and/or certified.
  • Work well under pressure and within time constraints.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solving and detailed data gathering. 
  • Capable of working with ambiguity and change.
  • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
