What You’ll Do

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for Senior Technologist to join the Products and Solutions Planning office to lead technology, market, and customer requirements analysis and product definition and planning activities centered on innovative next-generation NAND flash products. A successful candidate will take a holistic, system level perspective in understanding and refining requirements for new products and technologies. At the same time, the candidate shall translate such understanding and deliverables into documentation and collaterals that can be understood by internal and external customers from different disciplines. The role requires a top-notch subject matter expert capable of facilitating the exchange of information to address key concerns related to product requirements, specifications, application, platform applicability, quality, compliance and ad hoc inquiries. This role can discuss our NAND flash product plan with customers, explain our technical aspects, and share a roadmap to align their project schedule with our schedule. The role also requires regular technical consultation for internal and external customers.

The newly formed Products and Solutions Planning office of Samsung offers unique and exciting new opportunities to work with experts representing Samsung’s key semiconductor business areas including, but not limited to: DRAM, NAND flash, highly integrated system on chip, leading edge foundry, and advanced packaging. Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose Headquarters 3-4 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time with an average of 10-20% travel per month.

Reports to: Corporate EVP, Product Marketing

  • Clearly understand technology, market, and customer driven NAND flash memory requirements and translate them into concrete product definitions and specification. Work with other customer facing teams and R&D teams to create a product and technology roadmap and ensure Samsung NAND flash products are made available to the market with the highest competitiveness.
  • Define novel NAND flash and storage solution definitions with features and structures that enable industry’s highest performance, lowest power, and unforeseen realization of system concepts.
  • Simultaneously work with colleagues from US and Korea offices as well as customers and industry experts, to influence decisions. Strong understanding of product/technology roadmaps.
  • You will work with other specialists within Samsung’s Device Solutions division from various departments like: product planners, NAND flash memory technologists, NAND flash memory designers, NAND flash storage solution architects, product engineers, test engineers, and sales/marketing professionals.
  • Technical interactions with customers and industry eco-system partners, including travel.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related Physical Science with 15+ years of experience or Masters in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related Physical Science with 13+ Years of Industry Experience or PhD  in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related Physical Science with 10+ yrs of Industry Experience Preferred.
  • MBA is a PLUS!
  • 15+ years semiconductor industry experience, strong understanding of NAND flash memory products, ecosystem, roadmaps, and competitive landscape. Direct and deep engineering experience with leading-edge NAND flash memory is required. Solid technical understanding of NAND flash storage solutions, such as SSD and UFS, is required.
  • 5+ years of technology and competitive analysis.
  • A strong understanding of NAND flash memory test and manufacture process is required. Also required is the understanding of cost aspects of NAND flash memory development and manufacture.
  • Analytical and simulation-based performance, power, and feature modeling.
  • Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written, to interface with cross-functional teams within and/or outside of the organization.
  • Strong customer interaction skills, both verbal and written, as well as research institutes and firms.
  • Proven ability to work with global stakeholders in different cultures and time zones.
  • Proven track record to manage complex engineering and planning projects successfully.
  • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
  • An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.

$177,100—$282,900 USD
