The Supplemental Underwriter is responsible for underwriting new business, both health and life including Accident, Cancer, Heart, Disability, Hospital Indemnity and Critical Illness products. This is a hybrid position requiring 1-2 days a week in Addison, TX office.
Responsibilities:
Comprehend and apply underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Communicate clearly, positively, effectively, professionally, and promptly in writing, over the telephone or via electronic mail with external/internal customers.
Responsible for evaluation and risk analysis of: Accident, Cancer, Heart, Health, Disability, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness.
Handle necessary communications and discuss complex medical issues, underwriting policies, and procedures with agents and applicants.
Rate sub-standard life cases and initiate facultative reinsurance process.
Requirements:
H.S. diploma or GED equivalent, required.
1-2 tears of experience as a Supplemental Associate Underwriting or comparable experience underwriting in a life/health insurance setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting concepts and techniques of general supplemental insurance.
