Communications Manager UK – 12 month fixed term contract (mat cover) 

TripAdvisor is looking for a Communications Manager for the UK, based in London. The role is two-pronged; lead UK press office management and media relations, acting as main media contact and spokesperson in the UK. The successful candidate will also be heavily involved in the development and delivery of global consumer campaigns across earned and social media channels, including content development. 

This role is for a smart, driven and adaptable communications professional, who has the ability to identify and develop a story, respond to issues with sound judgement and be fast and flexible enough to balance multiple priorities. This role reports into the Communications Director, Global. 

Responsibilities

  • Handling all proactive and reactive UK media relations
    • Developing and activating consumer campaigns into the UK market, including drafting of media materials
    • Liaising with key stakeholders e.g. DMOs and business owners to help amplify campaigns beyond our own output
    • Capturing, analysing and reporting on KPIs
    • Responding to ad-hoc media queries
  • Protecting and enhancing TripAdvisor’s reputation in the UK
    • Leading on issues management for the UK, including development of messaging media relations
  • Managing TripAdvisor’s social media channels in the UK
    • Developing bespoke local content and utilising global content to be shared across FB, Twitter and any other relevant channels
  • Maintaining relationships with UK influencers
  • Supporting the planning and execution of global consumer campaigns
    • Ideation and story development
    • Project management including:
      • Developing media materials
      • Briefing in asset development e.g. videos, social copy, social assets
      • Social planning, scheduling and posting
      • Merchandising the campaign for the global team to implement locally
  • General housekeeping
    • Submitting weekly reports
    • Daily coverage monitoring and tracking
    • Maintaining and updating media lists
    • Reporting monthly expenditure for the UK
  • Collaborating and working effectively as part of a virtual team with the wider global communications team, as well as other functions within the business 

What we are looking for 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in consumer communications; agency experience a plus
  • Strong media contacts in the UK travel and lifestyle space
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Issues and crisis management experience an advantage
  • Experience of managing brand social media channels and developing social content
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working at speed to short deadlines.
  • Agile and flexible to change
  • Attention to detail, excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the travel/tourism/restaurant/online tech landscape would be an advantage
