What You’ll Do:

The Revenue Management team is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and analytical Principal Software Engineer to join the team on a mission to place Viator at the centre of the Experiences ecosystem by solving complex problems that span the traveller and operator sides of our marketplace. Working remotely from Poland, you will be part of a dynamic, fun, and energetic team where you can immediately make meaningful contributions and grow as a Principal Software Engineer.

In this role you will be responsible for building and supporting a world-class platform of complex business and machine learning services which are exposed through APIs to other teams within Viator in collaboration with our Data Science & Machine Learning team and various traveller experience teams. These services underpin viator.com and the Viator native apps, as well as business-to-business systems used by our suppliers and a wide range of third parties who carry our inventory, including Tripadvisor.

Within Viator we have a fun and friendly environment where the key objective is getting things done. Working closely alongside product managers and designers, our engineers are part of the full process from software design, to code, to test, to deployment and back again. Most of our engineers release code to production every few days and we have a daily release cycle.

This is a full stack role. Viator’s web stack includes Java, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Kubernetes, SQL and NoSQL databases, and runs on AWS. You don’t need to have experience with everything listed but you do need to be hungry to learn. You will need to have experience of a statically typed, object-oriented language such as Java or Python.

What you’ll need:

  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English;
  • Evidence of defining and developing a successful API-based architecture;
  • Help Define Technology roadmap for a number of systems within Revenue Management area;
  • 8+ years of experience with the some of the following technologies: JavaScript, Java, Python, SQL and/or NoSQL data stores;
  • Master-level knowledge of software design patterns and standards, REST and interaction, and the software development life cycle;
  • Experience developing automated internal frameworks or developer tools to increase developer release velocity or improve code health;
  • A collaborative, flexible, positive mindset;
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities;
  • Strong knowledge of various design patterns;
  • 2+ years of experience in building web applications with React JS that have been successfully delivered to users;
