The Role 

We are seeking a highly analytical, detail oriented professional to join the team as a DMFI Middle Office Credit Operations Senior Associate in our New York City office.  This role will partner with the Global Head of Credit Operations to build out operational processes and procedures for the recently launched Credit Strategy.  The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operational tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the business while contributing and leading key initiatives and projects with an eye on process improvement, efficiency, control, scale, and minimizing operational risk.

This role is a unique opportunity to help establish a new business and set best practices to facilitate growth within a large and well-established hedge fund.  The candidate will be empowered to drive change and will be provided the necessary internal resources and investments to facilitate the creation of a best-in-class operating support model.  You will be responsible for managing third party vendor relationships and will partner with and oversee all outsourced operational service providers.  This is a highly collaborative role with regular interaction with our Credit PMs, Trading, Risk, Product, Technology, Treasury, Compliance, and Foundational operations teams to support the full lifecycle of a trade; including but not limited to supporting trade capture, confirmation/affirmation, system trade and data flow, settlement, reconciliation, life cycle events, P&L, and reporting. 

 

What you’ll bring

What you need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience supporting credit trading, preferably on the buy side
  • In depth knowledge of a range of credit instruments including but not limited to Corporate Bonds, Convertibles, Credit Default Swaps, Index Credit Default Swaps, Other Credit Derivatives, Private and Broadly Syndicated Bank Debt, Swaps, Claims and Post Reorg Equity
  • Excels in a fast-paced, changing environment with the ability to multitask and with the tenacity necessary to complete the most challenging projects
  • A self-starter who can drive daily process as well as projects and initiatives forward with little or no formal direction or established process
  • Intellectually curious and adaptive to the needs of the business with the ability to wear many different hats
  • A high-level approach while understanding the specifics and nuance with strong attention to detail
  • A practical and open-minded approach to problem solving and an objective decision-making process
  • Ability to foster and grow productive relationship with external service providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ownership and a track record of delivering results
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

We’d love if you had:

  • Experience working in a multi strategy, multi-PM fund structure
  • Ability to write VBA macros and a basic understanding of coding
  • Knowledge of and experience using Advent Geneva and/or Wall Street Office

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. The base pay for this role is expected to be between $90,000 and $150,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
