The Role

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a talented student to join the internship program at Schonfeld. Schonfeld has the obligation of posting collateral for the risk underwritten by banks. The magnitude and cost of the collateral impacts the ability of the fund to take additional risk and improve the profitability of existing transactions. You’ll spend 10 weeks with the treasury team within Schonfeld where you will be immersed in our culture, working alongside talented professionals contributing to high profile projects.

What you’ll do

  • Complete a summer-long project by developing business critical software for Treasury desk.
  • Learn how the desk adds value to investors, portfolio managers and the firm.
  • Understand the daily flow and activity of the desk.
  • Find ways to contribute to or improve the efficiency or cleanliness of our codebase or build process.

What you’ll need

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, studying computational finance, financial engineering, computer science, data analytics, economics, or a related field
  • Interest and experience in a programming language; various languages will be considered such as Java, Python, C++, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work on a summer project at your own pace while interacting with the team daily
  • An interest in investing, markets and how the world of finance works
  • An analytical mindset and an ability to come up with solutions to problems you encounter

Our Internship

The Schonfeld summer internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture.

Each summer intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experience.  We provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the summer successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning program, the Sapphire: Summer Session, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in weekly networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $45,000 and $52,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience and level of education.
