Chemical Engineer, Cathode Active Materials Production
Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Chemical Production Engineer to support pilot projects and commercial scale production. This engineer will be responsible for commissioning new production units and leading continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing lines.
Responsibilities will include:
Leverage education in chemical engineering and professional experience in a broad chemical plant environment to support commissioning activities of a new unit and provide technical support to production lines as a part of 24/7 operation.
Provide technical support for commissioning activities of new production lines
Partner with mechanical development team to transition newly developed processes and equipment into manufacturing.
Work with a cross-functional and international team to deliver qualification of new products and processes.
Create and own process work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Train manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment.
Analyze process data and metrics to drive improvements on safety, quality, and cost.
Trouble-shoot and solve process and equipment issues.
Identify and execute continuous improvement projects.
Provide operational input into capital projects.
Desired Qualifications:
Experienced with industrial scale processes and equipment, in the area of chemical processing plants
Strong chemical / mechanical aptitude, preferably experienced with reactors, centrifuges, filter presses, kilns, or bulk material conveyance.
BS/MS Degree in Engineering. Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Willingness to be hands-on and experience commissioning of high-volume manufacturing equipment.
Detailed oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving. Six-sigma certification is preferred.
Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting
Experience with structured capital process, including process/equipment validation.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Technical writing experience
Highly proficient with Microsoft office software
