About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Pipefitter

Redwood Materials is currently seeking a Pipefitter to join our Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) team. These EPC roles are at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Display positive attitude and practice strong work ethic.
  • Assist with planning, material acquisition, coordination, and communication to ensure the work gets completed with a focus on meeting project deadlines and cost goals without impacting ongoing production.
  • Function as in-house construction technician, planning and performing mechanical piping and equipment installation, including support of start-up and commissioning of those systems as needed.
  • Enthusiastically cross train and support peers with project work that is outside of your, or their, core skill set.
  • Identify and communicate quality, safety, and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Engage in training on new tools, systems, equipment, and procedures as needed.
  • Accurately log work hours and material consumption using provided computer systems and software.
  • Identify and openly communicate methods, procedures, and tools to improve the service offerings of the facilities project team.
  • Accurately read and understand Isometric Drawings, P&IDs, and Orthographic drawings.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: location, quantities, and size of materials needed for the project.
  • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
  • Measure, fabricate, and fit up butt-weld, socket weld, “V” grove pipe, valves, hangers, pipe supports, and threaded piping systems.
  • Cut and bevel pipes using oxy-fuel cutting torches, mechanical bevellers or a combination of power and hand tools.
  • Must be proficient in making rolling offsets, fish mouths, laterals and consistently fabricating pipe to the correct dimension.

 Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in engineering or technology is a plus.
  • Experience with Process Piping systems including Welding, High Purity piping, orbital welding, Press Fit Systems, PVC, Stainless steel welding etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and work experience with construction pipefitting.
  • Experience with both fluid and gas systems including water, liquid chemical, O2, N2, Natural Gas, compressed air.
  • Completion of a skilled trade’s journeyman certificate program and/or relevant military experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, positive attitude, resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge with piping systems, fitting installation and applicable codes.
  • Experience in safe work practices that include writing a Job Hazard Analysis, knowledge of OSHA regulations, electrical safety, chemical handling, fall protection, LOTO.
  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs., repetitive at times, work at elevations up to 120 ft.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 card is a plus.
  • Five years plus previous pipe fitting experience.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
