The position

This is a senior individual contributor role as Machine Learning Engineer that will require tech leadership experience. We're looking for someone with a record of deploying Machine Learning models and experiments, eager to keep pushing themselves and the team to follow the best practices of Machine Learning Engineering.

Once here, you will:

  • Integrate the Fraud team, which owns machine learning models that protect our company and customers from fraudsters;
    • Work in a multidisciplinary and international team, close to Data Scientists, Software Engineers and other Machine Learning Engineers with the objective of helping evolve our Fraud detection systems;
    • Translate well-defined business problems into machine learning solutions that mitigate and prevent fraud losses;
  • Design the microservices architecture of machine learning solutions;
  • Leeway to define own tasks and solve some of the most challenging machine learning engineering projects we face, which consist of deploying and scaling machine learning models in Nu Mexico;
  • Integrate and leverage external data sources to feed our models;
  • Provide technical guidance for more junior team members;
  • Ensure the team maintains a high level of technical excellence;
  • Contribute to a technical culture in the local team;
  • Bring your expertise to the team, enriching them during technical discussions;
  • Look and implement improvements in the way we work and organize.

Things you'll need to thrive in this role:

  • Strong coding skills Python/Scala or equivalent languages;
  • Software development background;
  • Understanding of engineering challenges in a production environment;
  • Openness to learning new technologies, like Clojure;
  • Good understanding of machine learning models development and deployment pipeline;
  • Experience with machine learning tools and libraries such as Scikit-learn,Mllib and etc;
  • Nice data handling skills, Spark Dataframes or SQL proficiency, is a plus;
  • English language proficiency
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience on AWS Machine learning microservices, agile frameworks experience.
