ROLE OVERVIEW
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of FNL’s transportation and managing multiple projects as directed to improve FN Logistics processes and operational outcomes. The Logistics Manager will coordinate all logistics related projects as delegated to ensure optimal efficacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the execution, direction and coordination of all logistics and transportation related activities within the organization
- Manage entire ocean import/freight forwarding processes for all shipments
- Develop and maintain contractual relationships with ocean & drayage freight suppliers
- Manage drayage services/activities and ensure accurate and timely information regarding all shipments
- Manage entire shipping process(es) that impact(s) the transportation of goods to or from the company
- Engage with carriers and partners to monitor shipment status and resolve transportation service challenges
- Identify and recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, and equipment
- Guiding the daily transportation activities related to operational leaders to achieve productivity goals
- Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of warehouse operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports
- Utilize planning and execution skills to set departmental and individual performance goals and priorities
- Maintain excellent peer relationships that foster open communication and collaboration with the intent of positively impacting the organizations results
- Manage any assigned activity or project(s) related to managing expenses, minimizing loss, and maximizing revenue
- Facilitate, support, and participate in all leadership activities and meetings as assigned
- Execute any other duties as assigned and/or delegated by management
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working with US and International port systems in a freight forwarding or Ocean Import/Export experience is required
- 5-10 plus years of experience managing transportation and/or shipping departments, with an emphasis on ocean import and freight forwarding
- Must have high level understanding of international transportation, terminal and ocean import/shipping and freight forwarding industry practices
- Must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands including overnight, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to read and interpret necessary data, policies and procedures to perform updates and operate systems and other programs within the Distribution Center
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with different business units and departments
- Must have professional level of written and verbal communication skills
- Must posses ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations
- Must have experience using Microsoft Office and all Google Drive Office Suite Applications
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and business acumen with the ability to handle changing priorities and use of professional judgment in stressful situations
- Bilingual speaking ability is highly preferred but not required (English/Spanish)
