ROLE OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Head of Workers’ Compensation and the Head of Safety, performs a variety of complex paraprofessional confidential workers’ compensation processing and assists in industrial safety training, and safety reporting, office operations, and compliance tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in clerical operations for the Workers’ Compensation and Safety Programs; keeps abreast of current developments and laws regarding industrial safety
- Process the workers’ compensation claims and alert People and Culture of the need for a leave of absence and|or accommodation under the ADA; keeps abreast of current developments and laws regarding workers’ compensation and ADA regulations
- Serve as the liaison with the workers’ compensation administrator; interacts with administrator to resolve company and team member workers’ compensation and industrial safety inquiries
- Serve as first contact for team members on workers’ compensation an industrial safety inquiries
- Process, monitor and review incoming workers’ compensation forms and safety hazard report forms; maintain strict confidentiality regarding team member claims; create files and organizes claims as needed; document claims and claimant information; maintain correspondence as needed; assure all paperwork and files are completed for workers’ compensation claims and industrial safety issues; make recommendations to management regarding disposition of claims; coordinate processing with People & Culture
- Follow up with appropriate manager, supervisor and team member regarding claim status and required paperwork
- Coordinate with the manager, supervisor, team member and People & Culture regarding transitional duty accommodations
- Author transitional duty agreements, and file with People & Culture
- Compile, complete and verify required workers’ compensation and industrial safety reports; resolve any reporting issues that arise
- Assist with the implementation, coordination and presentation of required workers’ compensation and industrial safety workshops
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Three plus years of experience processing workers’ compensation claims, preferably for an employer with a high-deductible program
- Excellent oral and written communication, including exceptional presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of Google Suite
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Service Expectations
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines
- AA|AS in Business or a related discipline
- Bilingual in Spanish
