Objective and Role

This role is responsible for the overall Envoy user experience and the design organization that will deliver it, grounded in a space and culture where great design work can take place. They must be a coach, guide, mentor and motivator to designers to help them grow and consistently execute in collaboration with their product and engineering partners.

They work closely with the Chief Product Officer to formulate the product and business strategy and then build and lead their team to execute that strategy alongside their product management and engineering peers. This leader must collaborate and coordinate with their product and engineering partners to create a holistic design strategy and ensure their team’s work is integrated into the rest of the larger organization.

This design leader will frame the end-to-end user experience for our customers, and establish the processes, culture and mindsets to achieve it. They will build the team structure, define the roles and build a team rooted in a strong design philosophy and culture.

This leader is an excellent communicator, clearly articulating design strategies, philosophy, and decisions to the executive team; formulating strategies, plans and budgets to grow and nurture a strong design culture across the product, design and engineering organization. This design leader will work closely with brand marketing to ensure consistency across all customer touch-points.

The ideal candidate is a tireless advocate for the end user, while also extending empathy to cross-functional partners. You build trusted relationships, work to understand the business, and bring that knowledge back to your team, driving win-win design solutions that provide the best experiences for users.

This design leader is an accomplished expert in interaction design with strong experience in building strong information architectures supported by compelling visual designs. This leader will also have deep experience instituting and developing effective prototyping methodologies.

About the Work

  • Build and nurture a world-class team of designers and user researchers to deliver on a customer-centric design strategy.
  • Develop and grow a strong design philosophy and culture across the company.
  • Define the design strategy and shape the product experience across all customer touch-points.
  • Craft the design framework for the customer’s end-to-end user experience.
  • Influence and compellingly communicate your design vision to a wide variety of key stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional partners to establish the design vision and strategy for Envoy.
  • Build and develop core product principles and product design processes to guide the cross-functional team to deliver user impact at high velocity.
  • Built upon deep knowledge of design principles, tools and methodologies, build best practices across Envoy to drive innovation as the champion for product excellence.
  • Build and lead a research team to deliver deep and actionable qualitative user and customer insights to the company.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Design with 4+ years in a people management role.
  • 5+ years of product interaction design on web, mobile, or both.
  • 3+ years of both information architecture and visual design.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in web, mobile, and other digital mediums, including a variety of design projects.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience leading teams in framing and solving hard problems to uncover new value and innovation.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases a track record of design leadership and end to end experience ownership.
  • Experience in creating customer & user journeys and building a Jobs-to-be-Done framework.
  • Strong customer advocacy with a penchant for data and business-informed design.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in building/leading SaaS or mobile products is essential.
  • BA/BS or MA/MS in design related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in workflow or data visualization design
  • Experience in multi-modal design across multiple
