GROUP CREATIVE DIRECTOR (UI/UX)

The Group Creative Director (UI/UX) at Designit is a leader, a maker, a builder and a craftsman that uses design to bring experiences to life. They know how a digital product and experience should look, feel and work; they understand what users need and want in the digital space and in real life, in order to create intuitive, engaging experiences that people want to visit, use, and visit again.

As a part of the creative team our highly motivated Group Creative Director joins our team to build the UI/UX capability for the entire global organization and work with some of the strongest businesses the world over. With experience in setting the design direction for innovative, engaging, and intuitive experiences, the ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and global team collaboration.

The role  is both a hands-on and strategic role that demands that its occupier have a solid background in the conceptualizing, designing, and creating first-class digital experiences for businesses and consumers. You’ll be responsible for taking designs from early concepts and low-fidelity wireframing through prototyping, iterating based on feedback, working with managers, developers and engineers on implementation, and measuring the outcome of your team’s work. You’ll be a primary point of engagement for business development, help make choices about team, the types of clients, and the types of work we take on. You’ll work collaboratively with multiple internal teams, including marketing, retail, experiential, engineering, social, technology and development, and interface closely with clients and customers to solicit feedback and test your designs.

This person possesses analytical and creative skills and a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies. This position would involve frequent and close interaction with developers, creative, strategy, marketing and experiential. We’re looking for a futuristic, versatile, strategy-minded creative who is an avid listener, a critical thinker, an independent worker, and a problem solver with a desire to ensure consistent and effective brand messaging for our agency and our clients’ businesses.

YOUR DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE

  • Build and lead a team of world class UI/UX researchers, strategist, and designers
  • Conduct interviews, competitive research, design explorations, and strategic analysis
  • Create interactive experiences that are useful to users and promote our client’s businesses 
  • Identify key ideas to drive projects and how to implement them in multiple channels 
  • Provide deliverables including prototypes, proof of concept documents, wire frames, user flows, use cases, and user scenarios
  • Present various aspects of the user experience to development team and clients 
  • Track and monitor progress on development and quality of the experience
  • Lead and grow a team of UI/UX designers
  • Drive the development and communication of design guidelines and patterns, with focus on providing a consistent and intuitive experience
  • Experience conducting interviews, competitive research, usability testing, taxonomy audits and information architecture review
  • Ability to manage and maintain IA/UI/UX best practices
  • Lead collaborative ideation sessions with representatives from all key stakeholder teams
  • Document user scenarios, personas and create functional specifications
  • Clearly and confidently communicate design decisions to client and wider team
  • Conduct user research, create information architectures, user flows, wireframes and visual design comps
  • Execute top quality design work in line with agency standards
  • Manage the quality of design throughout all phases of a project
  • Participate constructively in inter-department and cross-service line communications
  • Craft actionable direction for other designers
  • Present confidently and professionally to clients and internal teams, including executives
  • Execution responsibility for all UI design tasks
  • Translate concepts into user flows and wireframes that lead to intuitive, accessible and simple experiences, thinking about the product as a whole

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: 

  • 10-15+ years’ experience in UI/UX Experience Design 
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative package, InDesign, and Visio
  • Has proven design experience with examples of successfully launched projects that demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking
  • Is exceptionally organized and able to switch between different projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Understands interactive experiences, channels, and design principles
  • Is proficient in underlying interactive technologies, such as web and mobile
  • Exemplifies grace under pressure
  • Has exceptional presentation and written communication skills
  • Is a natural leader and comfortable working directly with clients
  • Must be able to jump between many projects at once
  • Must be resourceful and creative to overcome obstacles and turn challenges into opportunities
  • Experience identifying and working closely with multiple stakeholders on large design initiatives, scaled across an ecosystem of digital projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, and collaborate with distributed teams in a global environment
  • Has a proven experience as a UI designer during the entire design process for web and mobile platforms
  • Has proven design experience with examples of successfully launched projects that demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking
  • Exhibits exceptional communication skills within the agency team and with clients
  • Has outstanding presentation skills
  • Is a master of HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, as well as emerging interactive design trends
  • Can lead a team and mentor junior team members
  • Must have experience in creating visual interface designs for websites and mobile applications
  • A love of big, business and world-changing ideas, and a desire to contribute to shaping them
  • Excellence in Mac OSX, UI, Web Design, Figma, InDesign, Microsoft Office, Acrobat, keynote, PPT, Google Slides
  • Basic understanding of Sketch and Principle
