As the Senior Data Engineer at Bezos Academy, you will use your expertise building simple and secure data pipelines and data warehousing systems in collaboration with a team of enthusiastic data technologists and educators to provide the best possible tuition-free preschool experience to children and families in underserved communities.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position. 
  • The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $137,000 - $273,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. 
  • This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience  
  • Expertise in designing, building, optimizing, and debugging complex data warehouses using relational and non-relational databases  
  • Proficiency in ETL/ELT development, automation, orchestration  
  • Mastery of Python, including virtualenvs and coding with minimal dependencies 
  • Virtuosity in SQL, including advanced constructs present on newer distributed engines 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience within a DevOps or DataOps environment 
  • Experience with network and data security, access control, and/or handling personally identifiable information (PII) 
  • Experience with query performance tuning, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, automated testing, automated schema migration, and/or continuous deployment  
  • Knowledge of AWS serverless technologies, AWS security model, and/or data analytics services (e.g. Lambda, Athena, Redshift) 
  • Have integrated third-party APIs into first-party data systems 
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Quicksight or others
