Samsung Research America (SRA), located in Mountain View, CA, is looking for an outstanding and highly self-motivated researcher/engineer. We are looking for candidates with machine learning and deep learning background, in the field of on device AI. You will work with a team of research scientists and engineers tackling real-world problems involving Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence initiatives. The AI research center is a key part of Samsung’s global R&D effort and aims to have influence on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
Common Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design, develop and implement novel deep learning/machine learning algorithms and efficient on device AI algorithms for natural language processing, vision, audio, speech. Conduct exploratory research on deep learning, efficient on-device edge computing, etc. Generate creative solutions (patents) and publish research results in top conferences (papers).
Background / Experience:
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Experience in efficient machine learning model/architecture design for edge devices (e.g., MobileNet, ShuffleNet, etc.)
Experience in machine learning optimization techniques (e.g., pruning, quantization, etc.)
Experience in knowledge distilled neural networks to utilize knowledge to accelerate the neural network training and inference
Experience in distributing AI capabilities across the whole system instead of performing all the compute in the cloud
Experience in privacy-preserving learning (e.g., federated learning)
Experience in neuroscience inspired architectures
Experience in machine learning techniques for system optimization
Experience in platform-aware model optimization (e.g., low-precision training/inference)
Experience in efficient hardware accelerator design for neural computing on mobile devices
Proficiency in a neural network library (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
Experience with implementing, evaluating and end-to-end prototypical learning systems
Proven track record of research/publications on machine learning and artificial intelligence field (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP)
Necessary Skills / Attributes:
Team work and communication skills are required
PhD. degree in CS, EE, or related field is required
