About the Role:

Over the past 12 months, major real estate players have sought to participate in the industry through partnerships with operators that allow them to a) capture some of the highly attractive economics of coworking, and b) deploy coworking-type amenities to other tenants in their buildings. In doing so, landlords have transitioned from industry suppliers to become a major new customer group who unlock asset-light growth for the company, create an industry barrier-to-entry, and represent a large opportunity to build a highly profitable new revenue stream that is currently on track to triple every year for the foreseeable future.  

The GM of Real Estate Products will be responsible for leading the team to build this opportunity into a $300M business line over the coming 3 years. In doing so, you’ll play an instrumental role in transforming one of the world’s largest industries. You’ll report directly to the COO, and will help shape the strategy of the company as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Industrious’ 5 year Real Estate Products strategy
  • Build and lead the team to execute against this strategy. The team is currently 7 people, and will grow to ~20 over the next 12 months, and to >100 over the next 3-4 years
  • Pioneer the development of new products that allow landlords to deliver high quality experiences and amenities across entire buildings and new financial agreement structures that support out transition to an asset-light model and aligns landlord and Industrious interests
  • Scale and oversee our business development team to grow revenue to >$300M by 2021
  • Partner with our marketing team to build Industrious’ brand, reputation and relationships with the world’s largest landlords
  • Develop tools and processes to efficiently support the execution of our strategy. This will include developing real estate playbooks, and forecasting and reporting tools
  • Oversee the team selecting new Industrious sites and presenting new opportunities to the investment committee
  • Contribute to smart and effective decision-making for important company-wide topics as a member of the executive leadership team

Requirements:

  • Hired and led a team of at least 15 people
  • Track record of delivering against business goals (ideally a P&L or revenue goal)
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically with a track record of building new approaches, systems or creating unique new opportunities
  • Proven ability and credibility to develop strong relationships with senior-most decision makers at large organizations, ideally with experience leading or heavily participating in high stakes negotiations, sales or business development efforts
  • Comfort developing and leveraging systems and tools for data-driven decision-making and analysis
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
