Summary

You will work on developing innovative data-driven solutions to bring customer value and better insights. This would involve undertaking transformative Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Data Mining projects in on-line payments and financial messaging for a leading, global fin-tech. You will also be called upon to provide mentorship to lesser experienced colleagues.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who is passionate about data and deriving value for our business and our customers using this data. The analytics team develops and applies advanced machine-learning techniques and algorithms to solve problems for online payments and financial messaging. This is an exciting time to be joining this team of Data Scientists as it transitions from deployed data-bases to a full-fledged cloud-based working environment. The essential functions in this role are:

Essential 

  • Processing massive amounts of structured and unstructured data using Spark/SQL/Hive
  • Building advanced supervised and unsupervised machine learning models
  • Researching new machine learning solutions to complex business problems
  • Writing production code in Python
  • Carrying out A/B test experiments
  • Communicating findings to non-technical audience
  • Mentoring and supporting junior data scientists and analysts

Required Skills

  • Understanding the full software development life-cycle (conduct data analysis and build large-scale machine-learning models/pipelines)
  • Exposure to the state-of-the-art data analytics products and solutions

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to prototype statistical analysis algorithms
  • Experience in coding structures for storing and processing complex, high volume, and multi-dimensional data
  • Experience in optimising space/time tradeoffs for computationally expensive processes
  • Exposure to difference Machine Learning techniques
  • Familiarity with Agile software development process

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent, or any other highly numerate subject
  • Substantial experience with major programming languages such as in Java, Python, Scala
  • Experience in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Experience in data pre-processing, Machine Learning, and data visualisation
  • Experience with large relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience in quantitative analysis and translation of findings into actionable insights
