The VP, Software Engineering will work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open-source frameworks, to highly available RESTful APIs, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: Java, GO, Python, React, REST, JSON, PySpark NoSQL databases, relational databases, Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few. This role will be responsible for partnering with 84.51° teams to lead all strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of building solutions to support the 84.51° strategy. 


  • Lead and grow multiple teams of product-focused Software engineers and Solutions Architects, deepening their experience in designing cloud native solutions, distributed microservices, and full stack.
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on team.
  • Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community.
  • Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios - Continuously improve software engineering practices.
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies.
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Break existing monolithic applications into composable reusable capability and service architectures

  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment.



  • Bachelor’s Degree and relevant certifications in technology and/or project management.
  • 12+ years’ experience with Technology solutions in the following areas: Cloud Infrastructure, Container Platforms & Serverless, high-availability deployment patterns (blue/green, canary, etc.), real-time monitoring and logging in cloud environments
  • 10+ years’ experience in Software Engineering, Application Architecture or Infrastructure Solution design
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in application design, CI/CD, development in a cloud environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Agile Delivery practices



  • Previous experience being part of a Technology Leadership team and reporting into CIO/CTO.
  • Previous experience managing large technology budgets ($10M+)
  • Demonstrated experience leading large (30+ FTEs) technology teams that included Cloud & DevOps Engineers.
