Senior Data Scientist, Supply Chain Science Products (P4017)

Summary 

The SCORe (Supply Chain, Operations, and Replenishment) team is looking for a Senior Data Scientist. This role will support end-to-end supply chain workstreams with a focus on the agile distribution network, optimizing the movement of goods throughout the Kroger network. Ideal candidates will bring a focus of business acumen in the Supply Chain industry and have experience working with Retail and Supply Chain and Operations data assets. The role most closely aligns with a mix of Machine Learning (ML), Operations Research, and technology profiles with an emphasis on supply chain domain knowledge.

This Senior Data Scientist role for Supply Chain specifically focuses on supporting work in the Agile Distribution Network space.  This includes building out production grade sciences at scale to embed in a Transportation management system.

As Senior Data Scientist, you are joining a community of analysts, data scientists, and software engineers who work collaboratively to drive business value via our rich first-party data. Data Scientists focus on using scientific methods to develop sciences to solve current business problems. These roles pair backgrounds in mathematics and statistics with strong business acumen and experience working with large datasets and relational databases.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively managing projects, tasks and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification while ensuring minimal downtime and maximum utilization.
  • Working closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure sound knowledge of business objectives and customer insight, to subsequently design and build best-in-class analytic solutions/processes at scale.
  • Develop and test decision science models for production use in the transportation space, with an emphasis on optimization methods
  • Trial innovative machine learning methods and conduct analytic experiments supporting project development and business objectives; share findings with team and function
  • Identifying opportunities for standardization & automation of existing solutions and processes to enable 84.51° to realize the maximum potential from our teams.
  • Partner with engineering to implement best practices for analysis, storage, and QA
  • Quality Assurance of own code and that of team members to ensure the highest quality work is being delivered to our clients.
  • Think creatively when building analytics solutions to bring the most value to the user, balancing analytical rigor and practicality
  • Challenging and improving 84.51° analytical capabilities/products.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, analytics, data science, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in consulting or professional services
  • 2+ years of experience using advanced algorithms, programming languages, or technologies in the development of technical analytics solutions or capabilities.
  • Experience developing decision science models
  • Experience querying data from relational databases using SQL.
  • Experience using R, Python, or other similar statistical software to develop analytical solutions.
  • Experience with data wrangling, data cleaning and prep, dimensionality reduction.
  • Experience with Big Data concepts, tools, and architecture (e.g. Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Spark, Sparkling Water).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to create computationally efficient solutions.

  • Strong analytical, creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Data visualization skills and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen: Supply Chain
  • Strong business acumen: grocery and/or retail experience is a plus.
  • Passionate about data, analysis, and insights.
