What We Need
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to develop and refine data-driven, test-based approaches to drive Live Services strategy for 2K’s portfolio of sports franchises. We need someone passionate about working with data to identify issues and opportunities while influencing cross-functional teams to make optimized decisions. Experience working within video games and live services is a big plus, while a passion to learn about 2K’s franchises is a must have.
What You Will Do
- Operationalize large datasets into insights and KPI reports across 2K’s sports titles
- Analyze and report on product performance and player behavior trends around new game launches
- Explore new datasets, provide definitions for metrics, and create aggregations used for reporting and analysis
- Build predictive models to identify patterns and trends as well as make recommendations for business decisions
- Collaborate with developers on telemetry requirements and improvements and provide guidance to team members on usage of new telemetry collected
- Own the development of frameworks to measure the impact of Live Service initiatives on engagement and monetization and create sustainable tracking to monitor player behavior
- Analyze and communicate the ongoing performance trends, strategic insights and optimization recommendations across the business
What Skills are Needed
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative disciplines
- 4+ years experience in analytics with large, complex and multi-dimensional data sets
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative skills and business judgement to drive scenario models and apply insights to strategy and planning
- Proficiency with relational databases, SQL, or big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig or other NoSQL DBs
- Proficiency working with spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel, etc.) and presentations (Google Slides, PowerPoint, etc.) and data visualization tools (Tableau, etc.)
- Experience working with financial and behavioral/engagement data
- Experience with machine learning and hypothesis testing
Bonus Points
- Experience with Vertica and/or Snowflake a big plus
- Experience with global team management and execution
- Game industry experience, especially in live service systems, a big plus
- Knowledge of 2K’s franchises
