HB Studios is a driving force in the creation of sports video games and the studio behind PGA TOUR 2K Golf – presently working on Console and PC. We have an opportunity for a Senior Technical Artist to join our team of developers, creators, and fans, who are passionate about the art and process involved in video game development.
As a Senior Technical Artist and experienced professional, you will apply your expertise and specialization to lead and enhance the game’s art by the use of tools and software!
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Art and Tech Leads to set standards and ensure work is not compromised by the limitation of technical processes.
- Collaborate across departments and develop software tools and scripts which improve the development of the visual targets and performance of the game.
- Design and build proprietary software solutions that can be used across multiple projects. Work closely with Software Engineers to assure feasibility and efficiency.
- Audit and maintain tools to ensure they stay relevant and output continues to meet quality standards for all the teams who rely on them.
- Process and integrate any tools and pipelines into the build environments and workflows.
- Create and maintain documentation so that we can effectively train internal and external developers on how to use our pipelines and tools.
- Set objectives and timelines for assigned areas and communicate progress of work and roadblocks that could impact agreed upon schedules.
- Identify and resolve technical problems and risks while presenting possible solutions as needed.
- Create and implement artwork on assigned portions of software products and write low-level software code and scripts as required.
- Provide mentorship and facilitate learning for less experienced team members on standard methodologies as well company tools, techniques, and pipelines.
- Research industry developments and explore new tools and techniques to improve efficiency of content production.
- Contribute to the creative, features, and technical documentation process.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Typically a minimum of 4 to 6+ years of experience in Technical Art.
- Technical Art experience shipping game titles, preferably AAA.
- Experience in writing and maintaining art pipelines and tools.
- Proven experience and proficiency with Unity and C#.
- A reliable great teammate with the ability to work independently.
- An effective communicator in both verbally and written forms.
- A detail-oriented person with flexibility and problem-solving skills.
