2K publishes some of the most popular video game franchises on the planet including Borderlands, BioShock, NBA 2K, WWE 2K, XCOM, and Sid Meier’s Civilization. The NBA 2K Marketing Team is comprised of experienced and talented marketing professionals and an exceptional communications team working together and across the company to create memorable and innovative campaigns for NBA 2K’s latest offering.
What We Need:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Marketing, the Director of Global Brand Digital and Social is primarily responsible for developing and implementing platform-specific global strategies to increase NBA 2K’s presence across social channels and leading 2K’s organic web and ecommerce destinations and emerging technology opportunities.
What You Will Do:
This role will develop the global social strategy and oversee local social strategies and create a culture of partnership and collaboration between the global and territory teams. Social Media Playbooks and Operational Guidelines will need to be developed and implemented for global and territory key leadership.
Key social platforms include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitch, and YouTube, and this role is critical in identifying emerging social media trends and platforms that enable 2K to continuously evolve, increase followers, and increase engagement. Each platform will need clearly identified growth and engagement goals to track against throughout the campaign cycle.
The role will work cross-functionally and cross-territory with Brand and Creative teams on developing and testing new platforms and products in accordance with the global social strategy.
Alongside strategy, this role will work to further develop the overall look and feel for NBA 2K across platform-specific channels. Together with the Creative team, the Director of Global Brand Digital and Social will establish the content development calendar, focusing on optimization and platform-exclusive content creation across mediums to support business objectives.
To demonstrate ROI, this role will own the data and analytics management and reporting process across all social platforms and use these tools to inform decision making. This will include overseeing and sharing results and implementing optimizations as needed and driving the team to test and learn. It will also play a key role in educating the value of social marketing and demonstrate the commercial application within the marketing funnel.
Close collaboration with the brand marketing and performance marketing team will be required to manage A/B testing and audience acquisition strategies. In partnership with the media teams, this role will develop both the organic and paid media strategy for all social platforms.
The role will be based in the San Francisco area but will also require regular travel to social media partners and our global offices to establish close working relationships with local social teams.
Social Media Prowess - Have a deep understanding of all social channels, established and emerging, and audience growth tactics with proven experience of creative, and relatable storytelling through social media. Be able to use this knowledge to identify new brand opportunities across the globe.
Analysis & Insight – This role will have a strong reliance on data analysis and is expected to measure performance against set KPIs throughout each campaign cycle. These insights will lead to recommendations for on-going and future optimisation.
Strong Communicator – Requires the ability to have influence and impact within a matrix organisation both across departments and across geographies.
Managing People – Deliver strong direction and leadership to a diverse team of direct reports. Ability to build trust and credibility within a matrixed team including with stakeholders from product development, commercial, and other internal and external partners.
Topical Knowledge – Have a passion for basketball and video gaming. Knowing the NBA and its athletes will be key to developing Brand strategy and growth across social channels while creating content relevant to our community.
