Position Description

Sensei is seeking a Hike Guide (Seasonal) to join our team. This individual will provide assistance to the Wellness team and Wellness area and a general support for guest service in the Wellness and Support Building areas.  This position reports to the Wellness Manager and will operate in a five-star resort setting and work with a team to provide the highest level of service to our guests and support to our team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for leading hotel guests on a hike
  • Greets guests in a friendly manner, orientate guests about what to expect on the hike and give them a safety briefing
  • Help guests feel safe, confident and encouraged during their hike
  • Able to converse with guests about Lanai History and Fun Facts
  • Knowledgeable about hikes on Lanai.
  • Preparing backpacks and refreshments
  • Reports any issues to the Wellness Manager.
  • Signs in and out of time clock in timely manner
  • Keeping an inventory of supplies used
  • Able to deal with emergency situations
  • Be on time for shift
  • Properly disposes of garbage if seen along the trail
  • Complete special assignments as requested by management.
  • Performs additional related duties as requested by a manager at any time.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Qualifications

  • Friendly demeanor, great smile, energetic, calm and able to make sound decisions when in a stressful situation
  • Must be able to operate equipment, including: an Ipad, computer, hand radio, and be able to text message.
  • Ability to walk up and down hill on slippery surfaces, bend, reach above shoulders, kneel, twist, and grip items.
  • Ability to push and pull equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40  pounds properly, over distance during a whole shift.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certification a plus
  • Individual must be highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to speak, write, read and understand English required, bilingual helpful.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
