Senior Localization Editor (Italian)

The Senior Localization Editor (Italian) is a core member of the Editing team. This position works closely with fellow editors, translators, project coordinators, and members of various departments on all editorial facets of Pokémon products. This includes maintaining factual accuracy, brand accuracy, and impeccable grammatical standards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, animated series, movies, official website, apps such as Pokémon GO, and other materials in the localization editor’s language of expertise. This requires high-level knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary of the language of expertise, including slang, phraseology, and other nuances.

While working in a fast-paced environment, the Senior Localization Editor (Italian) takes editorial lead on projects of significant scope, ensuring a unified editorial approach in all phases of the process—text translation, text editing, review and stakeholder approvals, and proofing. While organizing the contributions of a project’s editorial team, the Senior Localization Editor will also support the Manager, Localization Editing (Italian) and the Editing team as a whole by editing and reviewing related marketing materials and collaborating on process improvements.

What You Will Do

  • Take responsibility for projects, including premier projects, leading one or more support editors throughout the process, maintaining an across-the-board picture of the project’s timeline and needs, developing functional experience with the project, and ensuring that the final outcome is a faithful and consistent adaptation of product, customer communication, or marketing collateral goals.
  • Translate, edit, review, and proof a variety of company-wide materials, such as trading cards, animation scripts, apps, rulebooks, brand- and product-related text, press releases and other marketing materials, organized play documents, and
  • Edit for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and slang.
  • Ensure consistency in style and terminology.
  • Adapt text information to suit the needs of various audiences.
  • Review, revise, and proofread soft and hard copy.
  • Collaborate with fellow editors, along with various other department members, such as translators, designers, and project coordinators.
  • Report regularly on project status and progress to the Manager, Localization Editing (Italian).
  • Interact daily with other teams and departments on matters of terminology and style.
  • Ensure consistency by applying a sound knowledge of the brand and internal guidelines, supporting new members of the team in gaining an equal level of knowledge.
  • Make regular progress reports and updates to the Manager, Localization Editing (Italian) providing other assistance as requested.

What You Will Bring

  • 5-7 years of experience in the localization field or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate, edit, revise, or rewrite text-based content in language of expertise.
  • Must be detail oriented, with proven experience in handling multiple simultaneous projects, including publishing under regular deadlines.
  • Must be a team player with exceptional communication and project management skills.
  • Able to work flexibly in an environment that features tight deadlines and shifting schedules.
  • Native-speaker level in language of expertise and fluency in English are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite—Word and Excel in particular—is essential.
  • Ability to learn how to use specialized technical programs quickly.
  • Pokémon brand knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SDL Trados is a plus.
  • Experience in the gaming industry is a plus.
  • Leadership experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, or equivalent years of work experience.

What to Expect

  • All applicants must provide a cover letter (approximately 250 words in Italian) along with their résumé. This will be a qualification to the role.
  • All selected applicants must complete an aptitude test and an interview test to measure their skills.
  • Work takes place onsite in an open-concept office setting in Bellevue.
