Are you passionate about enabling developers to ship secure code? We’re looking for an experienced leader to join us as the Director of Security Engineering and drive the highest standards of enterprise and consumer security across all of our engineering teams.

We’re serious about protecting our infrastructure, operations, and most importantly, our customers’ data. You will be a crucial addition to the team and will amplify the value of our platform by ensuring that security is a key tenet in all aspects of development and deployment of our products. As the leader of the Security team, you care about shipping a secure product and eliminating security risks for Narvar. You will focus on maintaining customer trust through the use of innovative security solutions and ensure that the important work your team is responsible for is prioritized, resourced, and accomplished.

what you’ll do

  • Ensure compliance with industry, regulatory, and contractual security requirements of all products, customers, and jurisdictions
  • Build, manage, and maintain a robust security compliance program that includes SOC2 Type 2, HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR
  • Closely collaborate with all engineering teams and drive the design choices made in the implementation of various products to ensure that they conform to the security policy and architecture
  • Partner closely with product management to drive the security aspects on the product roadmap
  • Partner with the pre-sales team to complete customer security questionnaires and address clients’ questions related to product and data security
  • Oversee acquisition, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of global security infrastructure across a broad spectrum of technologies
  • Ensure our disaster recovery, business continuity, risk management, and access control needs are addressed
  • Evaluate security trends, evolving threats, risks, and vulnerabilities and apply tools to mitigate these risks
  • Build and manage a team of security engineers who can implement and achieve our security goals
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to conceive security strategies and features that will help keep our data safe
  • Strive to continuously improve security of all our platforms and applications
  • Implement application security tools and develop new automation and tooling
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence, and fun

what we’re looking for

  • You have a BS/MS in computer science, information systems, or similar degree
  • You have 10+ years of experience in multiple disciplines across the security domain and are an engineer at heart
  • You have 5+ years experience in web application, network security, and cloud security (AWS or GCP)
  • You have experience in evaluating, planning, and implementing compliance initiatives related to security and privacy like SOC2 Type 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, ISO 27001
  • You have a strong background in technical security design/architecture
  • You have an exceptional understanding of security vulnerabilities and common software engineering flaws
  • You can engage in technical discussions with security officers
  • You’ve partnered with senior leadership on security compliance and have experience managing the implementation or enhancement of security controls across a diverse system
  • You have strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop innovative risk mitigation solutions that address core issues while optimizing cost and time
  • You excel in an informal and fast-paced startup environment with a flat organizational structure and can provide credible hands-on management to highly qualified engineers
  • Proven hands-on technical management and ability to set and manage expectations and ensure your team achieves them
  • You have development experience in one or more of these languages: Java, JavaScript/NodeJS, and Python
  • You have experience coaching and mentoring engineers and engineering managers
