POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Sr. Systems Engineer specializing in Postproduction, you will provide technical support for a wide range of production systems that our teams use to edit work across diverse styles, including commercial spots, brand videos, animatics, web content, narrative, historical, motivational, documentary and training videos. You will be a well-rounded engineer who thrives on problem-solving and has a can-do attitude, supporting a broad set of production technologies in the post-production workflows. Strong Mac and broad technology skills will be required to ensure the delivery of efficient systems and services to video editors, VFX artists, retouchers and artworkers. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide day-to-day production support to the studio as required.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment associated with various post-production workflows.
  • Ensure a stable and fully functional production environment infrastructure is maintained.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the server storage systems, networks, and file processing/delivery systems.
  • Implement efficient workflow and pipeline design for post-production services with an emphasis on functionality, usability, and security.
  • Carrying out relevant housekeeping to include:
  • On-Prem & cloud server configurations, management, and administration tasks
  • Daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all associated documentation and records are kept up to date and effectively communicated.
  • Monitoring and ensuring all technical facilities and associated areas are fit for purpose and operational, including aligning picture monitors and audio monitoring to agreed-upon standards.
  • Liaising with and developing technical solutions with external suppliers and 3rd parties 
  • Assists with SOX and Internal Audit documentation for the site.
  • Participation in new and existing infrastructure deployments and co-ordination of projects with IPG IT End User Engineering Services, Core Services, and Global Networking teams to provide site designs according to documented standards.
  • Work closely across all IPG IT disciplines for problem resolution.
  • Administer studio software licenses. 
  • Ability to monitor and support storage hardware (SAN knowledge Preferred). 
  • Support remote editorial workflows, logins and setups (VPN, HP RGS, etc.)
  • Installation of hardware cards, firmware updates, troubleshoot wiring and cabling. 
  • Sonnet PCI Chassis: Set up, configuration, and hardware support.
  • Understanding the hardware requirements for rendering and working with high-resolution video files, ensuring that workstations are optimized for performance

 EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant experience (5 years minimum) in a similar production environment
  • Up-to-date knowledge and a passion for technology relating to media and post-production technologies.
  • Experience supporting editorial systems and workflows.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience of various media file formats, network fundamentals and systems administration practices.
  • Ability to identify and address technical issues without direct supervision while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of studio-specific applications, including Adobe, Maxon, Reslove, Autodesk, GenStudio & font management tools.
  • Previous exposure to studio automation tools and workflow management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Can identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure architecture.
  • Intermediate Source control understanding.
  • Intermediate Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Basic Knowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins automation).
  • Understands audio signal flow in a post-production environment.

SALARY RANGE:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
