Overview
Factorial Energy is seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our team in Billerica, MA.
Responsibilities
- Design of very high current (up to 1000 A) low voltage switching circuits to control current and voltage in battery test systems.
- Work with embedded software engineers to understand system requirements and develop software to interface with hardware.
- Work with scientists and engineers to understand requirements and objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- 3+ years of experience in power circuits, such as inverters, power supplies and power controllers.
- Experience in designing, testing and troubleshooting with GaNFETs and SiCFETs.
- Mixed-Signal/Analog circuit design for High Speed I/O Interfaces.
- Ability to develop very high speed control systems ranging from kHz up to MHz range.
- Experience in the design of very high current low voltage switching circuits.
- Experience with schematic capture, simulation and PCB layout tools such as Altium and KiCAD.
- Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI and CANBUS.
- Experience in the interfacing with micro-controllers and single-board computers.
- Collaborated with embedded software developers for the design, testing and debugging of circuits.
- Familiar with test and measurement equipment including digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
- Experience in populating printed circuit boards and wiring circuits.
- Experience in circuit design with FPGAs and BGA devices.
- Experience with batteries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized. Experience with version control software (e.g., Git,) and bug tracking systems.
- This job requires the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.
