Job Description

As an Advanced Battery Module Engineer, you work in a cross-functional team to create an innovate design for Factorial’s automotive modules. You will engage with counterparts responsible for electrical hardware, structures, and thermal systems, as well as interface with the cell development team. You will be the main technical contact person and coordinator between our customers and internal & external development teams regarding battery systems for automotive applications. 


Specific Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:

  • Lead product development for advanced battery modules starting at concept development – generate requirements, scope definition, cost estimation, and feasibility studies
  • Work closely with mechanical engineering teams to develop and evaluate new module concepts with regard to customer requirements and identification of optimization potential in existing module concepts
  • Support mechanical, thermal and electrical modelling • Support the design of software systems for battery protection, charging and gauging
  • Lead integration process of the battery cells into the final system
  • Development of test and validation plans to characterize batteries at the component and system level
  • Conduct rigorous failure/root cause analysis on battery related problems and own communication on issues to the cross functional teams
  • Support RFQ/RFI, cost analysis, supplier audits
  • Protect intellectual property (IP)



  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of battery module and pack design
  • A flair for creative design with a critical approach to solving tricky problems
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes is required
  • Proficient in 3D CAD such as SolidWorks or Catia
  • Experience using FEA for thermal and stress simulation
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with thermal management systems and HV battery systems
  • Very good spoken and written English language skills
