Your role with us
Your mission should you choose to accept it will be to get our data to a reliable, reusable and robust state, ensuring it can be used by multiple teams allowing us to make data driven decisions to achieve business value. You will work across multiple teams to collect the data, create a plan and then cleanse and manage it. You will know about data architecture and build plan on how it will be ingested for the BI team to use and consume via Tableau. You will help establish a shift in the use of data across the organisation. You will have a deep understanding of data integration, transformation, and ETL processes, and be proficient in leveraging cloud-based data warehousing and analytics solutions. This role will play a crucial part in building and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring high-quality data is readily available for business intelligence and analytics purposes.

What you'll do:
- ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using Matillion to extract, transform, and load data from various source systems into our data warehouse.
- Data Ingestion and Integration: Integrate data from diverse sources such as databases, APIs, flat files, and cloud storage into a centralized data repository. Use AWS Glue to automate data extraction and transformation from various sources like S3, databases, and streaming services for real-time data ingestion, leverage Amazon Kinesis streams or AWS Data Pipeline.
- Data Transformation: Transform and clean data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality, while also optimizing performance for analytical queries.
- Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise Matillion ETL jobs for efficiency, scalability, and performance to meet business needs.
- Data Modelling: Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to design and implement data models that support analytical reporting and data visualization.
- Data Governance: Ensure data governance best practices are followed, including data lineage, data quality, and data security.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve ETL job failures, data issues, and performance bottlenecks in a timely manner.
- Scalability and Automation: Plan for scalability as data volumes grow and automate repetitive tasks.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in data engineering or a related role, with a strong background in data modeling, ETL, and database management.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Java.
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance standards
Bonus points if:
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics) are a plus.
- Practical experience building on serverless technologies like AWS Lambda
- Proficiency in Matillion ETL tool and Matillion certifications are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices for data pipelines.
- Understanding of agile development methodologies
