Credit Karma is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead CK Money into the future. 

Credit Karma Money is one of the fastest growing banking products in the industry. We designed Credit Karma Money to be the best account for our member’s credit score, and the money movement capabilities provided by Credit Karma Money serve as a foundation for Credit Karma’s vision of autonomous finance.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Product Engineering and own engineering for the CK Money vertical. You will lead a large engineering organization spanning Credit Karma’s locations in Charlotte, Oakland, and LA. Your teams oversee all aspects of the CK Money product–every money feature the member sees and touches in the Credit Karma app, as well as operational aspects such as our bank core integration and other partner integrations. Your teams also support Member Success and Fraud Operations with tools, services, and data pipelines. 

This role requires an engineering leader with expertise in the fintech space, and who has demonstrated experience delivering across a scaled engineering organization. You will lead an organization of engineering managers and directors with teams whose capabilities span back end, front end, and data. You will work directly with the General Manager of Credit Karma Money, and partner with product managers, finance, fraud strategists, banking operations leaders, and other engineering teams to deliver capabilities that allow us to deliver a best-in-industry banking experience while maintaining operational excellence.

What you'll do:

  • You will lead an organization of multiple engineering teams delivering front end member experiences, back end services and tools, partner integrations, and data pipelines that feed business analytics, machine learning models, and fraud strategies
  • You will report to the Head of Product Engineering for Credit Karma and help us scale the Credit Karma engineering team and develop talent within the organization
  • You will work closely with the General Manager of Credit Karma Money, and will work side-by-side with cross-functional stakeholders such as Product Management, Finance, Marketing, Partnerships, Banking Operations, and Fraud Strategy and participate in overall product planning and strategy
  • You will collaborate with Engineering functions throughout Credit Karma, including Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Platforms

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience managing a multi-level engineering organization

  • Leadership experience in a scaled, innovative, consumer-focused company
  • Experience designing, implementing, and operating scaled, multi-tier, end-to-end systems
  • Experience developing and maintaining systems supported by complex partner ecosystems, including negotiating and overseeing partner technical commitments
  • Experience working as a key member of a cross-functional leadership team
  • Experience managing a large engineering organization with a mission of delivering banking products and services
  • Subject matter expertise in delivering mass market, consumer-facing financial services at scale
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant industry concepts and technologies including KYC, identity verification, money movement rails (ACH, debit, etc.), fraud strategies, machine learning, and case management
